Variable Speed Drives

Efficient supply of air as and when it’s needed.

The demands for air in nearly every compressed air system fluctuate to some extent. If your compressor(s) are fixed speed then this means that they will be switching on and off and probably running inefficiently.

As energy costs have increased it has become more cost effective to have a variable speed compressor, this will only produce the volume of compressed air required and can be a very effective way of saving energy. If you have more than one compressor then it is usually most cost effective to have only one variable speed to handle the variable part of your air demand.

Airchannel can provide you with a full range of variable speed compressors, either oil lubricated or oil-free.

It is also possible to retro-fit a variable speed drive to an existing fixed speed compressor, giving you the benefits without the full cost of a replacement compressor.

Data Logging Proves The Need For Variable Speed Compressor
Studies prove that better control, housekeeping and maintenance could save operators up to one third of the energy used across their compressed air systems (source The Carbon Trust). But Airchannel believes that there are many ways for those in the manufacturing sector to reduce the impact of these rises by reviewing their compressed air systems.
